A big congratulations to Phill Dewhurst who completed the London Marathon on Sunday in aid of one of our chosen charities – Kids at School in Nepal (KASIN).

Kids at School in Nepal (KASIN) was founded in 2005 as a small charity and is making a big difference to the lives of hundreds of Nepali children. Nepal is one of the most beautiful countries on earth and its people are utterly delightful but it is the 12th poorest country in the world. 85% of the population live in remote rural villages, 60% have no electricity, 38% have no toilet and 45% are illiterate.  Most teachers in remote schools have no formal training. KASIN works directly with schools, teachers and volunteers. All of its funds go directly into projects, improving school facilities, providing teacher training, learning materials etc. KASIN as a charity listens to local needs and then supports them. Trustees visit annually at their own expense to ensure funding has been allocated in line with our constitution ‘To advance the education of children in Nepal’.

Phill managed to raise over £12,000 in sponsorship which is the largest single fundraising in the charities history and we are proud to say has funded over 50% of the build costs of a new girls hostel (see below).  We are incredibly grateful to everyone who kindly supported this fundraising which we are delighted to have helped along.
